East Bay Lutheran Parish

Trinity and three other Lutheran congregations in the East Bay have called Pastors for special ministries.

Lutheran Ministry to Nursing Homes

Trinity is one of four congregations supporting a pastor whose ministry is to three nursing homes in Oakland and Alameda. Pastor Pandora Canton ministers to residents of local nursing homes that are funded primarily by Medicare and MediCal. The three facets of this ministry are chaplaincy, advocacy and connecting volunteers to residents in the nursing homes. This ministry looks for volunteers to share God’s love with those in difficult stages of life. This ministry also includes volunteers from each congregation who visit nursing home residents. Trinity hosts a Sunday afternoon (1:30) worship service at Crown Bay Nursing Home on the third Sunday of each month

East Bay Lutheran Youth Program (EBLYP)

The youth of Trinity participate in various activities while they have fun with one another and serve in Christ’s name. Our youth pastor, Craig Minich, coordinates this ministry of the East Bay Lutheran Churches.

Midway Shelter meals

On the fourth Sunday of each month, Trinity has committed to providing the evening meal to residents at Midway Shelter. This consists of providing and delivering a main dish, salad, dessert, and juice and milk for about 20-25 people on Sunday afternoon. A sign up sheet is in the fellowship hall. You may sign up to provide the whole meal or any part of the meal. For more information, contact the Mission and Service committee chairperson.

WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)

WELCA includes all women of the congregation as members. WELCA holds a yearly retreat for the women of the congregation the first weekend in May. This gives women a time for Bible study, fellowship, crafts, music, hiking, and meditation.
